Who says you can’t combine thirfty and trendy pieces to create a current chic look? Not I! I’m not huge on immediately latching on to trends and fads because I love timeless pieces, but I’ve slowly (a season or two late, as I usually do) fallen in love with quilted clothes. Fringe is big and here to stay, and I can’t help but fall for it, too. I have combined them, as well as my love for mixing thrifted and new trendy clothes, here. I hope this outfit inspires you to do the same 🙂

Plaid, black and white long sleeveved button up with fringe that hangs from both the front and back of the shirt – Bloomingdales – Rails Gianna Fringed Shirt $148 (direct link) /// Black quilted mini skirt – Threadflip (online consignment/upscale second-hand shop) $11 /// Black wedge heels – thrifted – with DIY removable fringe that I created – shoes $10, DIY less than $15.
The pieces are so much fun together, and every time I see them, I think of several different ways they can be styled with other thrifted or new pieces.
- the new Plaid shirt could be paired with thrifted boyfriend jeans and tennis shoes
- the thrifted Quilted skirt could be paired with a white chiffon top (example) and white heels
- the thrifted Wedges with DIY fringe could be paired with tights and a midi dress for the fall
How would you style these trendy new and thrifted pieces?
