One of my favorite things to do to spread the word about my blog and brand now is networking. I love getting out and explaining, face-to-face, the passion behind what I love to do. It creates a lasting impression and forms real relationships with people you may have never met had it not been for a chance meeting or networking event. My go-to networking material is my business card. I’m on my second design for my business card, and I can say that I love this one most of all! It was made with MOO.com‘s builder and it made my life less hectic. I’ve been through my share of designing logos and layouts with my Adobe Creative Suites programs, and while its good to have that knowledge, I like the fact that MOO has my back and makes the design process so easy. I was able to choose a layout and fill in my info, and then I chose to use Printfinity which allowed me to have different photos on the reverse side of my business card.

I just recently attended a women’s conference and networking event, Finesse Your Life Tour, an event put on by the The Ladies’ Roundtable and Jennifer Onwumere of Jen-Gerbread Marketing. I formed some lasting relationships while there and look forward to keeping in touch with the ladies. For people that I met spur of the moment and that I didn’t get to have in-depth conversations with – I gave them my business card and was pleased to hear how much they liked it! I hope that in turn influences them to reach out to me so that we can speak after the event is said and done. If you are in the DC or LA area, you can still register for the last 2 #FYLTour events!
Now, I tell y’all all the time that everything can be done sustainably, and it is no different with these business cards. I chose the Green Business Cards option which uses 100% recycled fiber, is 100% chlorine free and 100% biodegradable!

3 Networking Tips
- Have your MOO business cards on hand to share with people you meet so that you can connect after the event.
- Create a 30 second elevator speech. This is a summation of your business/brand’s purpose and mission to help you quickly inform the people you meet about who you are and what you do. It shows that you are serious about what you do!
- Follow through and actually connect with the people you have met after the event is over. It looks bad on you if you say you will reach out to someone, but you don’t do it. You also will possibly miss out on a great connection that you easily could have formed after meeting someone.
How do you love to network? I hope you use your MOO Green business cards the next time you network!

I’ve been blogging since 2011 and never made up business cards (I know…terrible!) I knew I never wanted traditional business cards…I love the way these look – and I like how you have your picture on them – being able to put a face with a name is always great!

Lovely tips! This is definitely something I follow up with when I attend conferences for my daytime job as well as for my blogging/YouTubing. Always important to follow up with people and even if you don’t necessarily say you will. I love emailing the people I’ve met (especially if there’s an attendee list of some kind) because it puts me back on their radar! xx, adaatude.com

So true, Adaleta! And getting on their radar after the hustle and bustle of the conference makes for better chances of staying connected!

Thank you for sharing! I really need to get some business cards. I think what’s holding me back is that I’m a jack of all trades. I have yet to decide what I *really* want to specialize in. Oops! 🙂
Addie says
Shelly – I didn’t put a title for that very reason. It also makes people curious and really ask “what do you do?” And they’ll want to learn more about you! Make you some without a limiting title!

Those cards are gorgeous! I’m needing some made and will definitely be checking out this service. Agreed on networking! It’s also so fun to meet up with other men and women who also blog to exchange ideas. Sometimes people don’t understand how much work goes into these blogs, so I love meeting people who manage and run their own.
