After majoring and minoring in architecture, interior design, and sustainability, I think I have an idea or two about what I want in my future house. I’m talking a wrap around porch; a kitchen, dining area and den large enough to host grand holiday parties; and a back yard that is lush with enough space for the dog, a chicken coop and a vegetable garden. Oh! I can’t forget a fireplace, a bath tub to stretch my legs out in, a large garage, and good neighbors never hurt. I would love a Victorian style home – that’s my dream house – but I’d like to start smaller and a bit more modern for my first home. But not too modern, I am Old World New, after all. It can be a fixer-upper, that won’t deter me. Let’s say, a 1970s mid-century modern home or a craftsman style home built earlier in the 20th century. Both very cute and charming choices.
All of this talk about the physical attributes of the home has me excited! What else would you expect from an architecture and design junkie? But what I’m not excited about is the loan process. I mean, I’m a creative… Numbers, loans, big scary banks. That’s the icky stuff. Or so it seems!
