Loose leaf tea is my favorite drink, and I love to support fellow black business owners. Join me and do the same when you make purchases from these black-owned brands that sell organic loose leaf tea!
Supporting black-owned businesses is more than just a “nice” choice to make. Diversity in all fields creates a stronger economy, builds communities, and empowers business owners and their families. Black History Month inspired me to create this list of black-owned loose leaf tea brands, but I want it to serve as a resource all year long. If you’re looking for cafes and tea shops to relax and sip tea in person, Black Wallet created this list of 122 black-owned coffee shops, cafes, and tea companies. Some of the online tea shops below have physical locations, as well, so be sure to shop local with them when you are nearby!

Black-Owned Organic Loose Leaf Tea Brands
Adjourn Tea House
I discovered Adjourn Tea House on Instagram and loved the mood they set for their audience. Their emphasis on pausing and resting with a cup of tea in hand is just my style. Owner and creator LaTonia was raised in a family of tea drinkers and developed her first idea for a tea and wellness business with the encouragement of her parents when she was only 15 years old. Adjourn Tea House is the beautiful result of that dream and hard work over the years.

Teas With Meaning
Teas With Meaning is a product of Oakland, CA, handcrafted by Kamilah Mitchell, an educator and tea connoisseur who is also a brain tumor and cancer survivor. The organically grown teas are great as tea, of course, but can be used in several different ways after the initial brew, as well. I love hat Kamilah employs and pays her former students and other young adults as interns to help Teas With Meaning run smoothly.

Ivy’s Tea Co.
Ivy’s Tea Co. is a hip hop inspired company with teas that are crafted by herbalist and owner, Shanae. One of her goals with Ivy’s Tea Co. is to introduce more African holistic health remedies into the holistic health industry. Her mission is why I’m so happy to create and share this post. Jayida Ché
Jayida Ché is an aunt and niece duo tea brand and shop. This hits so close to hike for me because it was my aunt who introduced me to drinking hot tea. I love visiting down home and having a cup of tea with her before we start our day. And I’ve passed the love right along to my son, albeit accidentally. He’s only 2, but he’s snatched up a mug or two of my tea, and now I don’t even fight him about it anymore. He chose his own tea cup and he has tea with mommy some days. You can shop all types of teas with Jadiya Ché online or grab a cup at the Jadiya Ché Tea Spot in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dwell Tea Co. focuses on more than what’s in the cup. They use the power and communal aspect of a cup of tea to bring people together. CommuniTea in a Cup events brining people together over a cup of tea. An added bonus, not only are their teas natural, but they are an eco-friendly company, as well.

True Serenity Tea
The True Serenity Tea company provides a monthly tea subscription box full of organic teas and tea accessories. I love this concept because it means not having to go to the store to find loose leaf teas. I can’t find teas that I consistently like at a brick and mortar store anymore, I can usually only find companies that pop up at farmers markets.

Calabash Tea & Tonic
Sunyatta, the owner and creator of Calabash Tea & Tonic, is a 5th generation herbalist. Her family business history is one of creating healthy products for their community. She grew up the daughter of parents who owned a health food shop and juice bar in the 70s. This strong influence in her life, coupled with the influence of her Syrian-Jamaican/Cuban heritage (especially food heritage) is part of what inspired her to create her own herbal based company. Luckily for us, she specifically creates teas. She creates and sells FIVE different chai blends alone. Calabash carries over 100 different tea and coffee blends to choose from. Good evening. This is a wonderful list with some tempting teas for me to try. However, I am in search of black herbalists who sell the whole loose leaf herbs and not their own unique blends so that I can make my own tinctures, etc. Are there any herbalists out there? I would love to support them. Please advise.
