Addie of Old World New at The Morrow House airbnb Bed & Breakfast in Waco, TX

The Morrow House Bed & Breakfast (airbnb)

I love a good Bed & Breakfast Bed & Breakfast style accommodations are my favorite because they allow me to revel in historic architecture. Up close and personal is the best way, in my opinion. So many historic sites don't allow you to get close, examine, rest, and live a few days on their premises. Most BnBs used to be old homes, and you can just feel the history surround you as you walk in. You could see[...]

Travel Destination: Waco, TX (for 36 Hours)

A Quick Guide to Experience Waco, TX Waco, TX reminds me of a mixture of my hometowns - Fayetteville, AR, the hipster-ish college town where I was raised, and Texarkana, TX, the twin city where I was born. There is a mixture of old things and newness all around. You can see both scarcity and immense growth all on one street. Visiting this city really got me to thinking about the intersection of growth, gentrificatio[...]

Plum Boutique Photo Shoot Fun in Waco, TX

Visiting Waco, TX Our trip to Waco, TX was so amazing! You gotta click over to read about it and see all of the pictures. We stayed in The Morrow House (check that post out, too), and we were able to go explore the city and take a LOT of photos for our blogs. The weather was really nice for early March. The ladies at Plum Boutique (find them on Instagram @plumtique) were so much fun to work with. They brought a lot[...]

Vintage Luggage Collection

Thrifting goes beyond clothes.  I have this vintage collection (obsession, obviously) of luggage that still functions perfectly, and they make for great props and fun conversation pieces.  I've use them in several photoshoots and real as luggage.  The green hard shell suitcase actually still had those shoes and clutch in them when I opened it - no wonder I haven't been able to find them!  I purchased everythi[...]

Happy Earth Day 🌍🫶🏾🌱

I used to think “let me just get 5k followers.. 10k followers… one day I’ll have 20k followers…” to help people live more sustainably with the blog posts and social media posts I created. 10+ years of that led to burnout. And it never felt the same as when my friends and family started to live a little more sustainably because of something they learned from me.

I hope you’ll be the inspiration for someone in your life to be a little bit more sustainable today. It’s such a good feeling to see the people closest to you thrift more, consume less, and think differently — more sustainably — about how we treat our world.

Don’t push it, just live it.

🥶❌🌱 Not my plant babies!

It’s been cold in Texas the past few days, so I acted accordingly to protect my little backyard garden that’s barely underway.

Using thrifted sheets (once back drops in my “thrift fashionista style content” days lol) and thrifted clothes pins (I knew they would come in handy! 😆🙌🏾), as well as some old jugs, bottles, containers, and twigs. Hopefully they help keep the plants from getting too cold to survive.

Do you reuse gift wrap?

Here are some things that I’ve thrifted to reuse as gift wrap each holiday season:

⭐️ tablecloths
⭐️ napkins & handkerchiefs (matching napkins sewn together can be used for larger gifts)
⭐️ Scarves (like from @wrappr)
⭐️ Cloth bags (like the ones your sheet sets come in)
⭐️ Pillowcases
⭐️ Curtains (can be used as gift wrap or to cover larger gifts like bikes or toy kitchens)

As long as you can fold the fabric into a square before wrapping the gift, it works well when using the furoshiki style wrapping technique.

Comment WRAP for a few tips and tricks to wrap gifts in cloth fabric.
