Earthx2019 Sustainability Conference

The EarthX sustainability conference (and more) is on it’s way back to the DFW metroplex! Be sure to get your tickets – or WIN some below – to take part in the plethora of events they’ll be hosting at Fair Park and around Dallas again this year.

More Than A Sustainability Conference

I had my first EarthX experience last year, and I immediately fell in love with everything about this organization. Unlike an ordinary conference, EarthX brings innovative sustainable films, organizations, speakers, products, experiences, lifestyle examples, and more together in one place for an entire week each Earth Month (April). This conference/exhibition/festival is not only for adults, being that it is more than a conference. There are also several events for kids of all ages!

What Happens At EarthX?

EarthX is a sustainability conference, film festival, and exposition. It is divided into 4 main categories, which break down even further to so many different events. Here are a few highlight from each:

EXPO Earthx2019 {FREE}

Deemed “the world’s largest environmental experience,” the EXPO takes place from Friday April 26 – Sunday April 28, 2019. The EXPO is FREE to attend, with a suggested $5 donation, if you are able to donate.

  • Tiny House Village
  • Green Speaker Series & EDTx Talks
  • EarthxKids
  • EarthxTaste & Food Trucks
  • EarthxAutoShow
  • Hemp Pavilion
  • Recycling Workshops & Recycling Art Demos
  • Live Music
  • Yoga, Meditation, & Goat Yoga

EarthxConference

With a goal to “educate, promote, and instigate activities that sustain environmental initiative,” the EarthxConference series helps to spark thought provoking conversations and innovations in the field of sustainability. So, if you’re not able to attend in-person, you can livestream the Earthx Green Speaker Series and more! The conferences have different prices, please check the site for more information.

  • EarthxOcean
  • EarthxTransportation
  • EarthxUniversity
  • EarthxEnergy
  • EarthxLaw
  • EarthxMilitary
  • Faith & EcoJustice Roundtable
  • EarthxCities

EarthxFilm

Before the EXPO or Conference begins, the EarthxFilm festival will be well underway. This 10 day film festival will share not only beautifully curated films about the environment, but it will also have virtual reality experiences available. Film Festival passes are $80, but you can win some below!

  • The 2019 Spotlight Screening on April 25 at the Perot Museum of Science and Nature: “The River and The Wall” by Conservationist Filmmaker Ben Masters
  • Student Film Competition
  • Earthday Screening: “Youth Unstoppable: The Rise of the Global Youth Climate Movement”
  • Meet the Filmmakers

EarthxEDU

Even though “field trip day” is only one designated day, almost any time is a great time to take your little ones to EarthX. Besides the fun EXPO events, EarthX prioritizes youth education. Above all, this conference makes educating everyone who visits a priority.

  • Student exhibits
  • Student Field Trips (Friday April 26)
  • Youth Film Competition
  • EarthxHack

Eartx2019’s Notable Speaker Lineup

Even though this is more than a typical conference with speaker after speaker, it’s important to note that the speaker lineup is amazing!

  • Several Dalla Mayorial Candidates for the EarthX Mayor’s Forum
  • 4 United Nations Ambassadors
  • Danni Washington, a Woman of Color Marine Biologist and Host of Xploration Nature Knows Best
  • Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, President & CEO of Earth Friendly Products®, which makes brands like ECOS

Win #Earthx2019 Festival Passes!

So that one of you can experience it, too, I’m having a giveaway! Thanks to EarthX, I am able to share a pair of Festival Passes for one lucky winner! Go to this Instagram post to enter:

This is in no way and exhaustive list of everything that happens at EarthX. However, I hope it piques your interests in this event. Regardless of if you’re able to attend in person, or not, you can still gain something from this organization. In general, you could learn a lot just by studying the lineup of events and speakers, and then exploring their work more. Specifically, you could stream the speakers live from wherever you are in the world.

Wow, I have been trying to find out more about these «sustainable conferences» for a while, but havent really tracked many of them down. This one looks really good though!

Most of these conferences actually aim towards businesses rather than “me and you”. Did you get the impression that most of the speakers were talking about how every American could make a difference? Or was it mainly aimed towards business owners?

I only attended the EXPO last year, but I’ll be doing everything this year! I’ll watch the speaker/conference portion online on the live stream. The lineup for the Green Speaker Series and their subjects seems more oriented towards everyday people, so I’m definitely excited about that! The actual conference schedule seems more oriented towards large-scale solutions and information, which is more government and business-oriented. I’m glad EarthX is big enough to host BOTH! And check back soon, I’ll be compiling a list of conferences from all over the world!

Sounds like a great opportunity! I wish I was closer. If it happens every year maybe I will be closer next time 🙂

I have got to add this to my calendar for next year! Are there other sustainability conferences coming up that you’d recommend?

Discarding the top of strawberries has been the norm my entire life. But why?

Eating the tops of strawberries is one tiny sustainable change that didn’t take a lot of effort.

What’s one small eco-conscious change you’ve implemented that made you say “Why didn’t I think of this before?!” 💡✨
