Celebrate Juneteenth in the Dallas area by attending one of these events across the metroplex!
Juneteenth is the oldest African-American celebration in the United States of America. It celebrates the date when enslaved African-Americans in Texas were finally told that they were free – 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Even though the celebration is on its 155th year, the public’s awareness and recognition of it is in the midst of a huge awakening. Some workplaces are rightfully recognizing it as a company-wide holiday for which employees take the day off to celebrate.
I am a North Texas resident, so I’m sharing a list of family-oriented Juneteenth events in Dallas, Texas and throughout the metroplex area this year. A search on Eventbrite and Google will share everything from a Juneteenth hair show expo to a Juneteenth brunch to Juneteenth scholarship fundraisers, and so much more! Feel free to share any Juneteenth celebrations that you know about along with their location, date, time, and any links to them in the comments so that we can celebrate this jubilant day together this year!
