The Morrow House Bed & Breakfast (airbnb)
I love a good Bed & Breakfast
Bed & Breakfast style accommodations are my favorite because they allow me to revel in historic architecture. Up close and personal is the best way, in my opinion. So many historic sites don’t allow you to get close, examine, rest, and live a few days on their premises. Most BnBs used to be old homes, and you can just feel the history surround you as you walk in. You could see all around The Morrow House that the majority of these beautiful homes hadn’t been revived in the same manner, so it makes you appreciate this home even more. Here’s to hoping that more homes are sustainably preserved and reused for many generations to come.
But for the time being, you can see many elegantly aged pieces in the BnBs like Morrow House, such as the doors and their layers of paint. It makes me wonder what years those different layers of paint were applied. Why did they want to paint them? What made them chose those specific colors? Was it something exciting like a new child coming along, or had the previous paint job just been worn ragged? So many questions that my imagination gets to answer, and I LOVE it!
The Morrow House (airbnb / Bed & Breakfast)
On my recent trip to Waco, TX, I was lucky enough to stay in The Morrow House. Cleverly called “The Real Fixer Upper” on their instagram profile, this is a fixer upper that you don’t want to miss. I mean, we all dream of having Joanna and Chip Gaines take over the planning of our new dream home. Staying at The Morrow House temporarily brings that dream to life, even though it wasn’t chosen to be on their show. Owner Amy brought many of the same design elements that we love about Fixer Upper homes to life in The Morrow House. Shiplap. All white walls. Country and modern. Decked out with the latest technology. This home hits all of the “Fixer Upper” bases. It is like a modern day bed & breakfast where you and your crew can be alone, but have so many options available to you. It is located near downtown Waco, so it is easy to explore the city while you’re there. You may never want to leave once you enter the home, though. Just a fair warning.

If you’re ever thinking of heading to Waco, TX, book your stay at The Morrow House in advance so that you don’t miss out on such a magnificent home away from home. Until then, here it is from my point of view. Maybe it can inspire you with your own “Fixer Upper” home projects. Enjoy!
