Bellacures’ All Natural Mani & Pedi

All Natural Mani & Pedi-4

If you learn nothing else from this here page on the internet, leave with the knowledge that “everything you do can be done sustainably.”  Prime example: I got my nails did  – (yea girl, got ’em “did”) – in an All Natural Mani & Pedi from Bellacures – Preston Center in Dallas, TX.

[Tweet “everything you do can be done sustainably #greenish #oldworldnew”]

Bellacures is a revolutionary nail salon that shatters your stereotypical idea of a nail shop and replaces it with an experience that caters to & pampers you in every aspect.  You can sit back in plush, relaxing chairs instead of a conference table style chair where you have to huddle over the table to allow the manicurist access to your nails.  Instead of the pedicure chairs, a clean tub of water is brought to you for your feet to soak for your pedicure.  This set up makes it easy to get your mani & pedi done at the same time!  I’m happy to have visited this shop for their grand opening where I experienced the unique layout for the first time.  It was also there that I learned about the all natural mani & pedi – and I have fallen in love with them.

Natural & less harmful products

natural mani and pedi tools

Bellacures already uses a lot of products that are more organically derived than other shops.  The all natural mani & pedi strives to make every aspect organic and as chemical-free as possible.  The nail polish remover by Karma Naturals has Soybean Oil and Lavendar, and doesn’t leave your nails and finger tips dry like normal acetone.  Organic lotions are used for the massage portion of the mani & pedi.

 Deborah Lippmann nail polish

deborah lippmann opi

OPI’s Black Onyx & Deborah Lippmann’s white polish

Deborah Lippmann identifies their polish as “5 Free.”  This means “no Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor or DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate). No animal testing.”  Their website defines it as “luxury treatment-enriched nail polish with Biotin, Green Tea Extract.”

OPI is 3 free, making it still a little more green than most polishes.

A Happy, Natural Mani-Pedi

I always leave Bellacures feeling refreshed instead of doused in the scent of acrylic powder (y’all know that nail shop smell that I’m talking about).  The Deborah Lippmann color lasts two weeks when you take care of your nails, and it looks and feels like a normal polish.  There’s no great sacrifice that has to made to live a little more green, darlings.

Now THAT’S a nail salon!! As soon as I saw the first picture I knew you were not in an ordinary, gaudy, run-of-the-mill nail salon. It’s beautiful and so are your nails. Love, love, love!

What a great idea! I would definitely go to Bellacures if it was in my area. I love the idea that everything is all natural (and without that nail shop scent!). Your nails look great!

I might have to cheat on Oscar and try this place when my current mani grows out.

It is so hard to cheat on your nail folks, I know. I’ve gotten horrible results before because of it >_< but Bellacures will hook you up, girl! =)

Happy Earth Day 🌍🫶🏾🌱

I used to think “let me just get 5k followers.. 10k followers… one day I’ll have 20k followers…” to help people live more sustainably with the blog posts and social media posts I created. 10+ years of that led to burnout. And it never felt the same as when my friends and family started to live a little more sustainably because of something they learned from me.

I hope you’ll be the inspiration for someone in your life to be a little bit more sustainable today. It’s such a good feeling to see the people closest to you thrift more, consume less, and think differently — more sustainably — about how we treat our world.

Don’t push it, just live it.

🥶❌🌱 Not my plant babies!

It’s been cold in Texas the past few days, so I acted accordingly to protect my little backyard garden that’s barely underway.

Using thrifted sheets (once back drops in my “thrift fashionista style content” days lol) and thrifted clothes pins (I knew they would come in handy! 😆🙌🏾), as well as some old jugs, bottles, containers, and twigs. Hopefully they help keep the plants from getting too cold to survive.

Do you reuse gift wrap?

Here are some things that I’ve thrifted to reuse as gift wrap each holiday season:

⭐️ tablecloths
⭐️ napkins & handkerchiefs (matching napkins sewn together can be used for larger gifts)
⭐️ Scarves (like from @wrappr)
⭐️ Cloth bags (like the ones your sheet sets come in)
⭐️ Pillowcases
⭐️ Curtains (can be used as gift wrap or to cover larger gifts like bikes or toy kitchens)

As long as you can fold the fabric into a square before wrapping the gift, it works well when using the furoshiki style wrapping technique.

Comment WRAP for a few tips and tricks to wrap gifts in cloth fabric.
