I just launched Patreon! I did it scared because I really want to create worthwhile content. I pressed “publish” with the thought that no one would subscribe by the time of my first livestream date. My first post on Patreon had the wrong name of my own event on the image (thank goodness I could change and update it). I’m still having to remind myself and my husband of the date and time of the first livestream so that neither of us forgets.
WHEW!
But. I. Did. It.
The Old World New Patreon is live. I’ve set dates and times to connect with those who become Patrons. I told Instagram – it’s not real unless Instagram knows, right?
What is the Old World New Patreon all about?
Patreon is a platform that allows creators to be paid for their work by the audience members that subscribe. All
The Old World New Patreon is starting off with 3 tiers. The first tier is to show support for all of the free content that I have provided and continue to provide on the blog and social media platforms. The second tier is the basic level of Patreon featuring a monthly live group video chat, exclusives, BTS, and early content. The third tier is all of that plus some personalization like monthly mail. I feel like the tiers will change as I learn what works best, so just head over to see what the levels currently reflect.
Why is Patreon important?
Community. Compensation. Consistency.
I want to build and foster a closer community than the ones that are on open social media platforms. I’ve met so many amazing people through my endeavors at Old World New. We have formed friendships and grown in many ways together. On Patreon, I want that community to be protected and be able to really grow and flourish.
Almost everything that I put out into the world on social media and on my blog here is done for free. There was a time when I thought that it was unethical for me to accept payment for my work because I was trying to “save the world.” Growth has taught me that I alone cannot save the world, and working for free will not help anyone. While I am able to secure brand partnerships and receive payment from affiliate links, those are inconsistent and sporadic. Having a more consistent form of compensation will allow me to remain consistent in this work.
