prAna: Sustainable & Savvy Clothing

This post is sponsored by prAna.  I received the Annexi Pant and Liana Sweater in exchange for a review.  All opinions are my own.

I love thrift shopping and thrift style.  I believe that buying second-hand clothes has less of a negative impact on the earth than constantly buying new clothes does.  Donating and buying second-hand clothes keeps a lot of useful material out of the landfill.  I always find cute things when I’m thrifting, but I know that I can’t live on thrift alone!  When I buy new clothes, I really want them to be items that were made with the earth in mind.  In addition to that, they have to be comfy, cute, and breastfeeding friendly now (thanks to Tiny Green Earthling).  That’s where prAna comes in!

prAna’s sustainable mission

prAna goes above and beyond to ensure that the materials and processes that they use are sustainable and conscious.  Their clothes are made from recycled, organic and responsibly sourced materials.  Organic clothes keep harmful chemicals away from your skin and out of the land and water.  Recycled and responsibly sourced materials help to minimize pollution, which is a huge issue in our world right now.

prAna is very transparent about where and how the clothes are constructed, as well.  Many of the products that they sell are Fair Trade Certified™ and they are part of the Fair Labor Association.  It is very important to know how your clothes are made because it affects the lives of real people.  Making sure that the people who make our clothes are properly paid and can feed their families shouldn’t be a rarity.  I would love to see it become the norm in the fashion industry, the same as it is at prAna.  Aside from fair labor and sustainable practices, prAna also gives back to several different charities.  Don’t you wish your favorite brand was as conscious as this? (Don’t cha?)

Wear prAna for any occasion

prAna clothing designs are so versatile.  While they are comfortable enough to chase after a crawling baby or do yoga in the park, they are also beautiful enough to wear out to brunch without looking like you’re actually in yoga pants!  I wore my prAna sweater and pants together this time, and I can’t wait to mix and match them with some thrift finds.  I would pair the Liana Sweater with a pair of boldly colored thrifted shorts.  That outfit would be great for a casual day of exploring the city with my family.  I would wear Annexi Pant with a cropped top since they sit higher on my waist, and I think that would be perfect for a fun date night.  Both the sweater and pants fit a little large, so keep that in mind when you order them.

  • Liana Sweater – lightweight & moisture-wicking.  Made from Hemp & Organic Cotton.
  • Annexi Pant – stretchy for movement.  Made from Hemp, Recycled Polyester, and Spandex.

I enjoyed a breezy day at the park with my son and husband while wearing my prAna outfit.  We walked around the trails and I got in a few quick vinyasa flows.  The clothes were easy to move in for all of the activities, and I felt great because I loved how I looked in them.  We could have easily gone for elotes or to dine-in somewhere afterwards, and I would have felt dressed for the occassion.

Happy Earth Day 🌍🫶🏾🌱

I used to think “let me just get 5k followers.. 10k followers… one day I’ll have 20k followers…” to help people live more sustainably with the blog posts and social media posts I created. 10+ years of that led to burnout. And it never felt the same as when my friends and family started to live a little more sustainably because of something they learned from me.

I hope you’ll be the inspiration for someone in your life to be a little bit more sustainable today. It’s such a good feeling to see the people closest to you thrift more, consume less, and think differently — more sustainably — about how we treat our world.

Don’t push it, just live it.

🥶❌🌱 Not my plant babies!

It’s been cold in Texas the past few days, so I acted accordingly to protect my little backyard garden that’s barely underway.

Using thrifted sheets (once back drops in my “thrift fashionista style content” days lol) and thrifted clothes pins (I knew they would come in handy! 😆🙌🏾), as well as some old jugs, bottles, containers, and twigs. Hopefully they help keep the plants from getting too cold to survive.

Do you reuse gift wrap?

Here are some things that I’ve thrifted to reuse as gift wrap each holiday season:

⭐️ tablecloths
⭐️ napkins & handkerchiefs (matching napkins sewn together can be used for larger gifts)
⭐️ Scarves (like from @wrappr)
⭐️ Cloth bags (like the ones your sheet sets come in)
⭐️ Pillowcases
⭐️ Curtains (can be used as gift wrap or to cover larger gifts like bikes or toy kitchens)

As long as you can fold the fabric into a square before wrapping the gift, it works well when using the furoshiki style wrapping technique.

Comment WRAP for a few tips and tricks to wrap gifts in cloth fabric.
