One great thing about living in a metroplex is having numerous options to do just about anything you can think of. When it comes to having parties, we’re excited to have The Epic as our new go-to destination for birthday celebrations!
In exchange for a write up about our experience, we were given a party package by The Epic free of charge to celebrate Greyson’s birthday. All views, and luckily, all the fun that was had, are our own.
About The Epic
The Epic is Grand Prairie & the DFW’s newest multipurpose community recreation, event, and party venue. It is a 120,000 square foot “life changing center” that houses a state of the art fitness center with open gym areas and $1 million in cardio & strength equipment… as well as adaptive & inclusive recreation, a recording studio, indoor aquatic training center & splash zone, library, café, culinary kitchen, bar, art gallery & art studio for the resident artist, theater, radio station, recording studio, film-editing bay, indoor and outdoor play area, and more! Yes, it is really all of that.
The Epic is part of Grand Prairie’s newest 172 acre community oriented park site, EpicCentral Grand Prairie. This grand park includes The Epic, as described above; Epic Waters, an indoor and outdoor water park; The Summit, a community and recreation facility for active adults 50 years and older; and PlayGrand Adventures, an inclusive outdoor play area covering 10 acres which will be opening soon before the end of 2019. These four facilities are among many of the new locations ushering in a new phase for the city and the surrounding community.

Parties & Rentals at The Epic
With the many amenities and activities to choose from at The Epic, there is no short supply of the types of parties that can be hosted there. I even saw a book release party taking place in the culinary kitchen while I was touring the facility. You can host culinary parties, paint & art parties, game room parties, pool parties, and a KidsPlay party, like we did for Little Boo. Party room rentals are open to residents and non-residents, all at the same prices. You can book a party or reserve a room at The Epic online or by calling The Epic.
Why We Chose The Epic
Even though The Epic seems huge with all of the amenities and activities that it offers, the staff makes it feels like hometown hospitality when people visit. They made setting up Little Boo’s birthday party effortless, and they even helped with small tasks during the party so that Josh and I wouldn’t have to tend to every little thing. We were able to enjoy our son’s birthday party along with him and our friends!
For Greyson’s birthday, we wanted to provide an atmosphere for him to have an unforgettable experience. For a 3 year old, that means playing with his friends, uninterrupted! I want him to value experiences over things, but we skipped having a party last year in exchange for a full out experience. So this year, I figured out how to merge the two – a play date with cake at The Epic!
The KidsPlay Room Party Rental
Greyson and our friends who attended his birthday party had so much fun in the KidsPlay room! Open to Epic members’ children during the week, and as a party rental room on the weekend, this space sparks the imagination of little ones. The room was made for kids, so our kiddos were able to play without adults getting in their way. There’s a treehouse to play inside, musical instruments to jam out to on the lower levels, and an epic slide in the outdoor area. The equipment and tables are all kid-sized. They ran, climbed, roamed, danced, played music, jumped up and down and had a blast – and that was all before the cake was served!
The layout of the KidsPlay room is right in line with how I try to incorporate the Montessori method into our daily lives. Allowing kids to explore their world with items made at their level helps them cultivate a spirit of bravery, it let’s them express themselves freely, and it instills in them that they are important. I’m so happy that The Epic provides a space where we could share such an experience with Greyson and his friends for his birthday!

Do you feel this is more intended for kids 3 and under. Would 5 year olds enjoy the space as well?
Addie says
I do believe 5 year olds will enjoy it! We’ve been back in the year’s since and he and his friends have still enjoyed playing there!
