The Inn on Lake Granbury (TX) – A Romantic DFW Getaway
Pack a weekend bag, gas up the car, and head west as you leave the busy DFW metroplex. After 30 minutes to an hour, your surroundings completely change. You have officially exited the big city and entered into north Texas “country.” 30 more minutes, and you’re crossing over bridges (Lake Granbury), watching the fishermen and boaters enjoying the water. You automatically want to do the same, and you yearn for the freedom the water brings. Just a few more minutes down the road, and it feels like you’ve entered an alternate time zone. 2 blocks away from the historic downtown scene, and you’ve finally reached your destination: The Inn on Lake Granbury. After checking in, you find that the photos online do it some justice, but they don’t give you THE FEELS that actually being there gives you. You now know you never want to leave – so you ask, “Can we just stay here forever?”
The Inn on Lake Granbury has so much to offer! Seriously, they can accommodate so much there. With 15 rooms between the two renovated historic buildings on the grounds, the expansive view of the lake, an area to accommodate meetings and retreats, a salt water pool and a jacuzzi, hosting weddings and wedding parties, a full kitchen and beautiful dining area… you, too, will definitely not want to leave once you get there. The innkeepers and employees are full of knowledge about the town, in addition to being very thorough when showing you around the property. The room has a book full of menus from every restaurant in town. The innkeepers will make a reservation for you, should one be needed, just as they did for Josh and me at the highly recommended Eighteen Ninety Grill and Lounge. Don’t let the “historic” building confuse you, either. The rooms are full of the latest technology, from gas fireplaces to surround sound stereo systems connected to an iPad/iPod/iPhone docking station. Oh, and the jet tub and the steam shower offered in some rooms? You’ll feel like you’re in a spa. You really have to see it, guys.
Entrance & Grounds
Common Area
The common area in the main building houses the DVD library, and hosts the wine and cheese soiree that happens each evening.
Breakfast Room
Breakfast is served each morning in this lovely dining room. The attached conference area is available to host meetings and retreats. The morning I was able to experience breakfast here, the menu was made up of southwestern hominy, peach cobbler, scrambled eggs, mixed fruit and bacon. I went back for seconds! Juices, coffee and tea are also available to help you start your day off right.
Lakeview Suite
Josh and I spent the night in the beautiful Lakeview Suite. It’s name really sums it up. It is an absolutely beautiful and comfortable room in every way possible – from the comfy twin chairs that can overlook the lake, or turn to gaze into the fireplace, to the jet bath tub big enough to fit two! No matter the time of year, you can easily admire the lake from the room – either in the big comfy chairs by the fire, or seated in the plush chairs on the patio.
I believe that everyone deserves to treat themselves to the amazing vibes given by a place like this Inn. The seclusiveness and beauty of the room and grounds made a one night trip away from home seem like an extended weekend getaway. If you ever visit Granbury, TX (and everyone should), I highly recommend booking your stay at the Inn on Lake Granbury while there!
