Thrift It! Clique – Pantone Colors of the Year 2016

pantone colors - tic april pin (1)

Pantone, the leading authority on color for most people in the world, delightfully shocked everyone when they announced TWO signature colors for 2016, instead of the normal one color.  The surprise was marvelous, though, because the two colors both stand alone well and compliment each other spectacularly.  The colors?  Rose Quartz and Serenity (click the colors to learn more about them). Don’t they just sound soothing and dreamy?

Following suite, stores worldwide stocked up on all things PANTONE 2016!  Every fast fashion retailer had the hottest trendy item in these two colors.  I thought that choosing Pantone colors as a monthly Thrift It! Clique theme would prove difficult because of this – would thrift stores have these colors?  I couldn’t have been more wrong!  I’m so glad this theme worked as well as it did for us.  From vintage to modern pieces, Rose Quartz and Serenity seem to be timeless colors.  They are sitting in the thrift stores just waiting to be seen and worn by someone just like you!  Give second hand Pantone colors a chance!

My Personal Style:

You all know by now how much I love thrifted dresses (just like last month’s Thrift It! Clique find).  I was ecstatic when I went into a very little known thrift store down the street from my house , searched the aisles with my phone out showcasing the rose quartz and serenity tones, and I came across this beauty.  I’m not sure when this dress was created, but judging from the seams on the inside, the hem line being straight but not “manufactured” straight, and the lack of tags, I know that it was made by hand for someone who’s frame is very similar to mine.  Thrifting is always a big treasure hunt with even bigger amazing surprising finds for me, but I can not think of many moments I cherish more than finding something that was made just for one specific person in the past and it fitting me perfectly.  If this dress could talk, I’m sure it would have a beautiful story to tell.

How cute are you!! I love this dress and how you paired it with cut out purse and floral heels. And look at the burgeoning baby bump! Cant wait to see how you continue to slay the bump style for the rest of the summer.
