Vintage Luggage Collection

Vintage Luggage Collection by Old World New

Thrifting goes beyond clothes.  I have this vintage collection (obsession, obviously) of luggage that still functions perfectly, and they make for great props and fun conversation pieces.  I’ve use them in several photoshoots and real as luggage.  The green hard shell suitcase actually still had those shoes and clutch in them when I opened it – no wonder I haven’t been able to find them!  I purchased everything at really low prices, so that’s exciting, too!  These pieces represent a simpler time in life when people usually had significantly less possessions than we do now.  Think about it – there were no wheels on luggage and it all had to be carried by hand, so everything you wanted needed to be light enough for you to carry on your own.  I haven’t accomplished that part yet, I usually pack these suitcases as a secondary luggage option and throw about 5 other bags in my trunk with it.  But a girl can imagine about her luggage’s previous life, right?  Let’s explore these beautiful antique and retro luggage pieces some more.

Vintage Green Hard Shell Suitcase

Vintage Luggage - Old World New 5

I purchased this lovely from an estate sale in Southwest Arkansas (along with a cute vintage dress for my little cousin and some vintage fabric) circa 2012.  It cost me around $3.  Similar suitcases online cost about $7.

I don’t recall the when, where or cost of this suitcase, but it was purchased for less than $10 (I have thrifting standards – haha!) after 2013 in Texas.

Wicker Picnic Baskets

I believe the green and tan baskets to authentically be old/vintage/antique, but the blue one seems newer.  I’ve seen remakes similar to it in stores as recent as last summer.  The wine bottle holding tan basket was $2 at a DFW area thrift store, and the other two ranged from $6-7 at DFW area thrift stores, as well.

Vintage Luggage Collection - Old World NewWhich of these suitcases or picnic baskets could you see yourself carrying and incorporating into your 2016 lifestyle?  I love them all!  More would be awesome, but I think this is the perfect collection for me right now.  What do you think?

I have a Set of three of the brown woven Luggage carrier. Small, medium and large. They fit inside eachother nicely like the Russian dolls. I can’t find another or the maker until I came across your Super Cute page! Any info you could give me, possible maker or Decade it was made?

    Love your Collection btw 🙂

Discarding the top of strawberries has been the norm my entire life. But why?

Eating the tops of strawberries is one tiny sustainable change that didn’t take a lot of effort.

What’s one small eco-conscious change you’ve implemented that made you say “Why didn’t I think of this before?!” 💡✨
