Another project that I created for Greyson’s nursery was this pair of simple DIY leather & wood shelves. I originally got the idea from a video that I stumbled upon by The Sorry Girls. They created an entire accent wall with decals and shelves that they made on their own. I guess I loved it all a lot because I incorporated both DIYs into Greyson’s nursery design. Check out the Sorry Girls video on how to do both below and visit Greyson’s blog post about his Vintage Modern Gender-Neutral Nursery to see more photos of these shelves in action.
For these shelves, I uses 2×4 wood that was already stained from a previous home decor project that I created. They are cut 12″ long and I placed two together using brackets on the bottom side. The leather straps are from a pair of broken leather suspenders that my husband owned. I love that this project was made completely from reused items. If you are making one but don’t have any of the materials, I encourage you to look for them at a thrift store first. You can find old leather belts and possibly even wooden slats for this project at a second hand store! I also used our trusty Ryobi tools from Home Depot – I absolutely love that brand because it is so dependable and affordable!
